Science
‘Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding.’ - Brian Greene
At St.Werburgh’s C of E Primary we are all scientists. We want our children to love science. We want them to have no limits to what their ambitions are and grow up wanting to be astronauts, forensic scientists, toxicologists or microbiologists. We encourage curiosity and invite our pupils to ask questions about the world around them. Through our Science lessons we aim to equip them with the skills to answer their questions as well as wanting to find out more.
We foster a ‘hands on’ approach to our Science learning and St. Werburgh’s and offer all children exciting opportunities to learn using Science enquiry; giving children the confidence to take the lead with their investigations. We ensure that the ‘Working Scientifically’ skills are built-on and developed throughout children’s time at the school so that they can apply their knowledge of science when using equipment, conducting experiments, building arguments and explaining concepts confidently and continue to ask questions and be curious about their surroundings.
